Interesting quote
here from Rudder: "We're more quality, performance, security, dependability and
ecosystem driven. It would be fantastic if the [Longhorn] server can come out
close to the client and it would be fantastic if it had all the features that
customer wanted. We're going to do the best we can to balance between those two
business objectives." I'll believe that
when I see it. With so much functionality in Longhorn and all of the work
facing Microsoft, and with the recent release of Windows Server 2003, I'd be
surprised to see Longhorn server and client be released anywhere close to each
other. Also, the customers and developers don't want the Longhorn Server
to hold up the client. That would be frustrating and
unnecessary.
