I read today that HP is buying a Swedish VoiceXML company and that IBM unveils a toolkit for talking computers. Just recently, Microsoft has announced the Microsoft Speech Server v1.0 beta on their speech site and I had a chance to try out the amazing new Microsoft Speech Application SDK Beta 3 that integrates with Visual Studio .NET 2003 and uses SALT to enable ASP.NET based applications to interact with the user via speech (or vice versa). Building speech applications using the speech app SDK is quite easy and the results are uber-cool.
