Feed Description: A personal blog about technology in general, .NET in specific, and when all else fails, the real world.
Last night, we discovered that some of our blogs were coming up blank. When we tried to SSH into the server, it told us that the server had a new key, and that meant that it might've been hijacked. So for about half an hour, we struggled trying to figure out what was going on, why Lisa was getting a blank page for me but I wasn't, etc. She opened a ticket with the host, and my parting comment to her was "if we weren't hacked, it sure looks like they moved us."
Well, that's what they did. They moved us to a new box, and it caused us no end of grief. Movable Type appeared to be broken, which was because we were magically over-quota on the new box. So for about 12 hours, give or take, I wasn't getting any e-mail. I'm sure I got bounced off some of the busier lists in the process.
Am I looking for a new host? You betcha. Would I recommend our host to other people? Not any more, I won't. I don't know whether Lisa will move her site or not. She likes having Linux on the back end, but I've convinced myself that I'm going to be running ASP.NET again. I have a domain name in mind already, and it's going to be something larger than just "Brad's blog".
It only takes one un-apologetic show of brazen stupidity to fuck up a business relationship in my book.
