Each time I set up a new pc there are a few things I need to install and configure first. There are, however a few things with no wizard or gui to walk you through. Two such personalization tasks refer to the Internet Explorer:

It's not written anywhere, that IE is limited to two simultaneous downloads per default, but that's the way it is. One can set this free by following this Microsoft support article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282402

The other thing I prefer to have as preset is google.com as the default search engine, so each time you mistyped a request in the address bar or simply type in your search words, google get's asked. For this purpose there is a standard script on google’s webpage with a description on:

http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html#default

or you can simply click the registry file on http://www.google.com/google.reg and let the automated process do the rest.

try it out...
