I made my way down to the eSociety exhibition at BMICH today. I think this is a healthy step the Sri Lankan government is taking to raise awareness of ICT to the younger generation in the country. Based on what I’ve seen during my teaching years at Gateway International School (where I had many opportunities to meet up with school kids from a variety of schools), a large number of students in the urban cities have access to IT institutes but it is the rural areas that are seriously lacking IT facilities.

Saying that, projects like the at Horizon Lanka give me hope on what can be achieved, Horizon Lanka should also be an inspiration to all schools in the island, it’s unbelievable how these guys have pulled off what they have done and still continue to do.

Also check out these pictures that Buddhike has posted of the Microsoft stall at the exhibition.
