Thanks everyone for a great August meeting, and thank you to INETA for hosting the food and speaker. Richard Hale Shaw gave an excellent presentation on patterns and best practices and did a little demo of the Visual Studio 2005 class designer formerly known as Whitehorse. Thanks again to our publisher and software sponsors who helped us to give away copies of:
Books
Wiley’s Professional VB.Net 2003 to Terry Rule
Addison-Wesley’s Beginning ASP.Net to Ally Serio
Addison-Wesley’s Design Patterns in C# to Barry Schneider
Addison-Wesley’s Exchange Server 2003 Distilled to Brian Lamprecht
Software
Infragistic’s excellent suite of Windows and Web UI components to Greg Postlewait
Total .Net XRef to Pablo Cifuentes
Next Meeting
Our next meeting is September 14th and the topic is “N-Ight: open source or free .Net tools NCover, NAnt, NUnit and FxCop.” Darrell Norton and Paul Laudeman will be leading a hands-on exploration of how these tools can help you build better software; since this will be hands-on, we encourage you to bring a laptop with VS.Net installed on it. We will provide the N-family of tools. Those who don’t have laptops are still welcome – you can team up with a laptop-enabled WeProgram.Netter and do some pair programming in good Extreme Programming fashion!
Get Online
Remember to check out the www.WeProgram.Net website and respond to our poll about membership dues. The INETA speaker did some evangelism about membership dues so we figured we’d see what everybody else thinks. If you haven’t signed up to get on our mailing list, you can also do that from the site.
