I have been playing ever since the public release of the Beta 2 of SQL Server 2005 (Yukon) bits. The SQL Workbench of the alphas and beta 1 has been enhanced into the SQL Server Management which combines the functionality of Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, and Analysis Manager into one consolidated tool. The tool looks to be based on a VS2005 core but seems “fresh” in the sense of modern looking and possessing nice aesthetics. It also is very easy to use and perform all the operations within one tool. I have been doing a lot of T-SQL from an embedded query analyzer and it works quite well. Of course, this is reams of more stuff in Beta 2 that I will be writing about including UDTs and managed procs from VS2005 integration. One small issue is that it took me most of last week to get it installed. I don't believe this is Microsoft's fault as I had pieces of Yukon alphas, and SQL Express beta releases on the machine. I couldn't get everything to uninstall though and had to resort to deleting things out of the Registry by hand. I imagine much of this was my unique situation and stuff that will be worked out over time. This is the most impressive release of SQL Server yet.
