Jon Barker has created a tool to POP out mails from GMail. It is in early development
stages. It will act as a POP3 and SMTP gateway to retrieve and send mails using your
GMail account. It is a .Net application and the source it soon to be GPLed. Download
it here. The tool says 'No, this does
not steal your passwords'. That made me think a few seconds before entering my password!
:-)
I don’t know about POPing out mails but what I like to see is a new mail notification
tool for GMail. The tool should just sit in the notification area and display a toast
notification when new mail arrives. It should also display the subject and sender
of the mail. Maybe we will see that soon.
