I was surprised when I purchased "James Bond 007 - Everything or Nothing" for the Xbox, popped it in and was immediately presented with a garbled screen. Having gone through this before when I first setup my Xbox to connect to my HDTV, I immediately knew that the game was playing at 480i instead of 480p (and my TV supports only 480p & 1080i using the HDTV component inputs - as do almost all HDTVs made before 2002).
Anyway, I was surprised because the package clearly states that the game supports 480p. Well, thanks to some digging I found out a way to "trick" the game into playing 480p - and that is by turning off 1080i in the Xbox dashboard. I have no idea WHY this works, but it does.
I was under the impression that the Xbox system told the game the minimum HDTV resolution enabled in the Dashboard, and that the game was supposed to then adhere to that resolution. Something must have been missed in the testing of this title over at EA.
