Today I passed Microsoft exam 70-292, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000. It was a tough test! But now I am an MCSA for Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003.
The testing engine has been completely overhauled. The diagrams are in color now, and some are interactive representations of actual Windows forms. I believe, now more than ever, this test more accurately models the administrative experience managing Windows Server 2003.
To prepare I have been using Windows Server 2003 a lot. For 6 months it was my primary development computer. I have recently gone back to XP, but that was more for battery life reasons than anything else. I read and studied the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Delta Guide. Since I was already very familiar with Windows 2000 Server, this guide eliminated about 1200-pages of superfluous information. The MCSA/MCSE Exam 70-292 Study Guide and DVD Training System was also helpful. The system consists of the 800-page book, instructor training on the included DVD, and access to some web-based practice exams. This is the first integrated training system I’ve seen that actually worked for me. Your results may vary.
