Steve Lombardi is the MapPoint Technical Evangelist.  Steve is a funny, nutty, and pretty cool guy.  And he loves to talk about MapPoint – in any state of mind (if you attended the MDC Midnight Madness, you know what I’m talking about).

While at MDC, Steve pointed out that “the MapPoint group introduced new licensing for developers this month.  Basically, MSDN subscribers can use the service for free for a year”.  If you’re interested in mobility, then the MapPoint services and products are something to be considered.

One of the coolest demo’s that I’ve seen in a while is live right now on the Internet.  It uses the MapPoint web service, Microsoft Location Server (MLS), and a “plugin” to show Steve’s location in real time.  The demo and an explanation of how it was accomplished can be found here.  After looking at the page, it appears that I will see Steve tonight as he is in the same location where I’m headed (MDC Summit).
