Looks like Gateway is closing its stores to cut costs -- nearly 40% of its employees work at them.  Apparently their acquisition of eMachines has put them in a great position with Best Buy, so if you're a Gateway fan (is there such a thing?), you'll probably be able to pick one up at your local Best Buy sooner or later.

Speaking of failing computer stores...when will Apple start closing theirs?  I've heard that they're big money losers and generally cater to their existing, rabid user base.  Unfortunately, that seems to be Apple's agenda:  Lose money selling to your current customers.  Hopefully their board will wise up and boot Jobs one of these days.  The stats I've seen on the company's performance since he's been back are less than stellar.  Generally all the numbers are down -- but they're making cool stuff!  Someone needs to figure out how to make the cool stuff and grow the company, and I don't think he's the guy to do it.
