I am a big fan of FreeTextBox and I was excited about the new version 2.

Well it's not because it's free that we can't be critic. And here it's a HUGE disappointment.

First the upgrade from the previous version to the new one is a disaster.

If you just reference in your project the new DLL, you have 100% of chances that nothing will work. The developer changed some of the methods to configure the control and it's a nightmare, because the documentation is really poor.

Moreover, I am very sad that the useful Image Library function is no more present, so obviously it's the same for the ImageGalleryPath method, so you sure the control crash if you don't remove the line.

I understand that the developer ask for money about the source, but at least it should keep a certain compatibility in respect of the large number of already installed controls !

<general rant> to the developers who work on developing user controls (free or commercial) please don't screw your user's base by scrapping your new version. Difficult but necessary requirement to keep a level of compatibility in your software</general rant>

So unless something is done with a new release to fix the issues, I don't recommend anymore to use FreeTextBox 2.

Stay with the previous version or move to some other products, eventually commercial like richTextBox or HTMLTextArea.

Time for me now to downgrade FreeTextbox :-((

UPDATE: Just discovered also that WordClean, IeSpellcheck disappeared in the upgrade !!
