I think this adds to the discussion of being a developer “that just wants to code” (as Billy Hollis says) might not be a good thing long term.  Becky Nagel of CertCities.com has created an unscientific list of the fastest growing certifications for 2004. 

1.      MCSE: Security

2.      Security+

3.      CCIE

4.      CCNP

5.      RHCE (RedHat)

6.      MCDST

7.      CISSP

8.      MCSE: Messaging

9.      MCDBA

10.  PMP

Those that just missed the list include MCSA Security, CCSP (Cisco), SANS GIAC, and CCSA (CheckPoint).  All of these are security related.

Notice the missing MCSD and MCT.
