Jeff Key is legally sane, but questionably competent.

Yes, this is off-topic.

Someone recently posted a request for the record/band you love, but too embarrassed to admit.  My favorite album doesn't exactly qualify, but it does fit into a unique category:  The “worst” record for a “great” band.

My favorite record:  Trompe Le Monde by the Pixies.

Many indie folk consider Trompe the worst Pixies record.  I disagree.  It's all over the place, and it feels soooo good.  I was in high school when it came out and was more into punk at the time, so I wasn't even aware of the Pixies.  A friend played it for me and I was sold from the first listen.  It was so different, and still is, from everything else.  The Pixies changed the face of indie music when they appeared with Come on Pilgrum/Surfer Rose, and kept it interesting by mixing it up on every record, with Trompe Le Monde being the best example.

So hell has frozen over and Mr. Frank Black Francis, Kim Deal and the rest of the gang have made up and are going to be touring as the Pixies once again.  I've seen both Frank and Ms. Deal in their various forms over the years and will literally kill to see them together.  Chances are they'll be at Metro when they come to Chicago, so if you happen to be there with me, watch out; I don't know if I'll be able to control myself.

God bless the Pixies!
