I figured I'd drop some security tips while the talk of exploits and worms is rampant.

Comcast is currently doing it's part to help prevent these worm attacks.  Comcast.Net subscribers can get a free copy of McAfee Personal Firewall Plus here

In addition to this, the software Spybot Search & Destroy is a great way of getting rid of most malware.

One last point I'd like to make is that the company at http://www.buddylinks.net/ has created an insidious Instant Messenger worm that sends itself to all members of the infected party's list, showing a “hey, look at this great link” or the equivalent message.  (The one I was shown had a fake news story that would spark major headlines were it true).  There's an opt-out checkbox if you run the configuration utility it throws in your start menu (simply uninstalling via the link is not good enough).  Then find the uninstall program in %windowsroot%\program files\buddylinks.net\ and run that.  I believe that gets rid of it, but you may also want to check the startup keys in the registry as well.
