I just read the most bullshit article I have read in a very long time, you can find it over here on the New York Post. In the article the author makes the statement that playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a game about being a mobster and killing lots of people, is worse than molesting young children. To quote the article:
"This is 10,000 times worse than the worst thing anybody thinks Michael Jackson ever did to a little boy"
That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. If the purpose of that statement was to elicit emotion, then it definitely worked. Check out what the guys over at Penny-Arcade think about this.
This article is just so out there it is hard for me to even comment on it, basically it boils down to the fact that what he is talking about is a video game. It is just a video game. We have had games that encourage violence for years, even games like AD&D are centered around violence. One of the fundamental concepts of a game is that it is detached from reality, a normal person can play a game and whether they are slaying dragons or hookers can determine the difference between the game and real life. If they can't make that determination, then the game is not going to make them any crazier. (These games have sold millions and millions of copies, you would think if they were that bad then there would be a wave of murders performed by pale 16-25 year old boys)
The article also encourages people to not support this company by selling, or not buying, it's stock, well you know what? I already own stock in Take-Two, originally it was because I think they have a bright future and I enjoy there games, but now I have another reason, to say fuck you to people like the author of this article. And if I meet the author of this article in a dark alley..... I won't do shit, because I am not crazy and this game has not turned me into a murdering lunatic.

P.S. Maybe I should not post when I am pissed off.
