Intel plans on adding WiFi access points to their chipsets. Computers using the chipset will be able to act as a wireless access point (but still need a wireless card as the radio transmitter). Supposedly, this will entice people because it will save them money because they won't have to buy a separate WAP. But, my question is - who's going to want to buy a PC and:

#1. Keep it on 24 hours a day just to keep the LAN up
#2. Put up with the potential computer slowdowns as the PC spends cycles (bus or otherwise) on LAN operations

Personally, I say keep LAN devices separate from computers. WAPs are not so expensive that they should prevent anyone setting up a "real" LAN from getting one.
