Mr. Gunnerson posts a controversial bit regarding public fields vs. properties.  Followers of Microsoft's Design Guidelines for Class Library Developers and/or FxCop generally follow the no-public-fields rule.  The consensus of the post and comments is that public fields are only acceptable for internal classes or classes compiled with their consumers.  Carry on.
