ZDNet has a post on how a lot of the new products from the Google stable is no more innovative or cool, but just a me too kind.

I think after Search and Ads they are not yet sure what would be thier next major move and they are just trying out stuff they can think of. No more a small and with so much money to burn, I think they just are enjoying the sucess and forgetting innovation. Maybe it will take some time before they find thier feet.

I also think that the intial honeymoon period, when anything Google does is cool, is over and people are looking at what is the innovation that Google has come up with. "It is from Google" is not enough, it is more important to see how useful it is to me.

This is good thing as it is going to help Google stabilize (get over the IPO and having a lot of money) and actually start being innovative again, if they do not want to die.
