I think Christian Sepulveda has come across a good idea regarding the Software Architect title in his blog. I've always felt that the title was pretty elitist ("hello, I'm THE software architect"). I much prefer a team with a range of developers with their respective strengths and weaknesses, than elitists and followers. You'll need a technical lead, but more for project direction than anything else. I've always used the term "Client Solution Developers". You develop solutions for the client.
