The Oakland A's have picked a terrible time to go cold. Both Rich Harden and Barry Zito got hammered over the weekend as the A's dropped 2 of 3 to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Combine this with Boston's recent surge, and the A's are in the dogfight of their lives just to make the playoffs.
Next up for the A's are the Anaheim Angels and Texas Rangers. Lastly, the A's play 6 of their last 9 games are head-to-head with the Mariners. The A's need to come up big in both series this week to preserve their tenuous 2 game division buffer over Seattle. All this without this year's top pitcher, Mark Mulder. It's going to be a tough road ahead.
