First, the round tables that took place on Monday had Object Management Group's MDA (Model Driven Architecture) as one of its main topics and now I read this article in eWeek about Microsoft's plans for supporting MDA in the Orcas / Longhorn timeframe.

Will MDA be the solution to make developing systems easier by offering the ability to fully design and run it without a single line of handwritten code and therefore theoretically abstracting the system from it's underlying middleware (.NET / J2EE...)?

Time will tell... But I am certainly looking forward to enhanced UML support and SDM (System Definition Model) in Whidbey (Codenamed "Whitehorse").
