I don't get the whole gay marriage deal in America. Why is this such a problem and what are we stopping by not allowing gay couples to marry or form a civil union? Are there somehow going to be less gay people because they can't get married? Is a single person going to suddenly realize their how “sinful” they are because of these laws?
What does the process of the government creating a document that says you can file a joint tax return have to do with religion? Which part of marriage do people look forward to? Hitting the courthouse to get the marriage license or going to the church and having a wedding? They can't have the church wedding as it is, so why hurt them more?
I'd like to point out that to my knowledge I don't even know a single gay man or woman. I just feel that discrimination should not be part of our law. When did this become a fundamentalist Christian society? Did I miss a meeting?
Feel free to tell me why they should not be allowed to marry. Preferable with logic, but if you gotta go with the bible then fire me up some verses because all I know is Sodom and Gomorra (and I don't know it very well.)
