Jim Weirich has an excellent explanation of dependency injection (a.k.a. inversion of control) posted on his site. It's geared towards Ruby programmers—and the example code is in Ruby—but the principles could apply to many languages and situations. Well worth the read if you are developing applications of any sizable scale.
