Internet News:
Here is a post over at Ensight about whether or not emoticons are evil. Yes they are. [READ]
Jeremy from Ensight gets a Bloglines ClipBlog. A ClipBlog is like Scoble's Linkblog. Subscribed. [READ]
Microsoft released a Community Blog portal to list blogs by what they are about. Cool feature, it could be very useful for when I am working with a specific technology along with being a nice way to find more blogs to add to me list. [READ][via Furrygoat]
Programming:
How not to do SQL Injection. Is it just me or does SQL Injection sound dirty? [READ]
I had no idea that some features of the framework are not shown in Intellisense. I probably wouldn't know how to use them anyway since I am just a VB developer. [READ]
Some cool new validation updates for ASP.NET 2.0. My favourite is the ever so simple Validation Groups. It lets you validate two separate sections independently of one another on one page. [READ]
Politics:
James posted on his political blog about John Kerry selecting John Edwards as his running mate and makes a good point: "I don't see how his experience is that much different than Bush's was. Edwards has been a senator for six years, Bush was a governor for seven years..." Right along those lines I have a question. Since when do you have to be a career politician to be a great leader? I'm sure it can help but I would not hold it against someone before listening to what they have to say. Even more on those lines why is it such a big deal that these candidates are supposedly so liberal? What's wrong with that and when did it become such a bad word? [READ]
Hardware:
Here is a cool plasma mug and coaster that looks like the plasma balls that you can buy in places like Spencer's Gifts (Are those still open? The one near me closed down.) [READ]
Michael Swanson links to the pages where you can preorder the new portable media centers. Maybe I will skip a big hard drive MP3 player and jump right to one of these. [READ]
A designer named Phillipe Starck is doing some design work for MS input devices. Cool looking stuff, but it just shows that MS is out of innovation for the mouse. [READ][via Raindrop]
Other:
I'm glad to see that other people feel the same way I do about PC games. Start putting the games on DVD and the last few people with old CDROMs with $350 video cards will pony up the $35 bucks for a DVD drive. [READ]
Addy Santo mentions that he saw a release date for Doom 3 in an article. It looks like August 3rd is the day. That might be the same day I get a new video card. Well, maybe I will just have to get the XBox version. [READ]
Funny article about security vulnerabilities in Wendy's order screens. Best line in the post: "WORKAROUND: Use a hard object such as a rock or baseball bat to disable the order display screen after the late night drive-thru has closed." [READ]
