I live in Ohio and although judges supposedly have been able to use these for a long time I have never seen one of these special license plates until today. These plates are given to people convicted of drunk driving offenses to let other people on the road know about their driving history.
I wish I would have had a camera phone this morning because I saw one of these plates on a car. Since it was 7:45am I did not realize what the plate meant uintil I saw this article on Fox News, but thinking back about it the guy seems like a perfect candidate. He was extra scruffy looking with a good sized beard and he wore a lot of denim. He parked in the place at the gas station where the truck pulls up to drop off fuel (Which was obviously not parking spot). He was driving a beat up van the looked like it was filled with trash (Then again I can't talk, I would guess I have nearly a garbage bag of trash throughout my Neon (But then again, none of it was piled up on the dash (Plus I don't drive a 1987 conversion van, so I got that going for me.)))
I don't have a problem with them as long as they are not extremely long term. I do think people can change and I don't think most 30 year olds should still be paying for being a moderately irresponsible person in their late teens. Since these supposedly are only used for people who have restricted driving rights it sounds okay to me.
[NOTICE: I generally would not link to Fox News, but it was the first article I saw today.]
