If you are upgrading your phone and you want to pass it on to someone else, then you might want to reset and erase all the data on the device before passing it on. Here's how:
Soft Reset - restarting the device
When you device is running slowly because it has chew up all the memory, you could simply try to restart it and see if it works any better.
1. Press and hold on the Power button for a few seconds until it switch off. If the device is frozen you could try to pull out the battery for 10 seconds and insert it back in.
Via Software Menu
1. Press the Home key to go back to the Home screen.
2. Then press on the Menu key.
3. Next tap on Settings.
4. Now tap on SD & phone storage. You may have to scroll down the screen to see it.
5. Next tap on Factory data reset.
6. Now tap on Reset Phone.
7. Finally you could wipe your handheld by tapping on Erase everything.
Reset using hardware key
1. Turn off the phone by pulling out the battery and put it back in.
2. Press and hold the DownVolume button.
3. Then press and hold on the Power button until you see the device switch on.
4. An on-screen instruction shall appears, and offer you the options to Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock. Use the Down Volume key and select Clear Storage.
5. Next press the let go of the Power button.
6. Confirm your choice by select Yes or No. Using the Volume key to make your selection.
Once your HTC Gratia start up, check it to ensure that all the data has been erased before passing it on to someone else.
