Once again the smaller more agile countries are ahead of us. Then again, even the other large lumbering countries use metric... but I digress.
Australia is starting to adopt an eVoting system in a way that makes sense. Here in America we seem to be more interested in having a bunch of companies that do whatever they want and sell their products to politicians that want to stay in office (Often by any means necessary I'm sure). In Australia they are having a company design them an open source voting system with multiple safeguards on data consistency. There is no Internet involved, there are multiple encrypted disks that travel separately to ensure consistency, there is the ability to give recepts (Though the aussies aren't using it right now to keep cost down for the pilot).
Why aren't we doing this in the States yet? Really, I'm serious, what is wrong with us? [READ]
