the borders of the enterprise are dissolving, and interaction is occurring outside of its walls at an increasing rate. Why adopt an architecture that is inwardly focused, when all results, most opportunities, and threats are on the outside of the legal fiction of the organization?
So, I'm talking to a colleague the other day. We're talking about something he's working on and how it involves some transformation of existing SAP stuff. I ask whether he's seen the new mid-range "BusinessByDesign" stuff from SAP (background thread running in my head that it ought to be possible to (ab)use SAP's new toy as the building blocks in a twisty maze of lamps, something which seems like it would fit well to my colleague's current use case). He says no. Asks who I suggest he talk to about it. I say, well, why not give Vendorprisey a ping? He could surely steer you from there. Long pause. And then my colleague says: "Well, no. I meant, who do we know in CSC who could talk to us about this? I can't go outside the company without touching base with them first."
