Cake seems to be a new MVC web framework for PHP. It's still in the preliminary stages of development but looks like it might work for small projects. I like the fact that it's easy to edit live on the data with minimal coding and little overhead. However, like a lot of cool ideas, it might end up being like Smarty - great in theory, difficult in execution when things get complex. Though I'll keep an eye on it to see if ends up providing me with what I want: a complete PHP web framework that works great for large applications.
