Charles Mills added some Doxygen markup comments to a copy of the 1.8.1 source code, ran it through doxygen, and produced a set of nicely cross-referenced doc + C-source HTML pages.

You can get them here as a bzip archive, as well as fetch all the tools you need to do it yourself. (This is remarkably helpful if you are writing Ruby extensions and need to peer into the Ruby source C code.)
