My last day at $WORK was today. It was voluntary. Qwest and I just didn't see eye to eye any more, so it was time for me to go.
So, now what? I'm going to take some time off where I don't work at all. About a month, probably, until I decide what I want to do. Meanwhile, I'm going to work on whatever I feel like working on, not necessarily limited to programming. Like, you know, cleaning the place up, selling stuff I don't want or need any more, and so on.
One of the first things I need to do is cleanup the rules for my board game, tentatively titled 'Hammer of Gaul'. It's a block game covering Caesar's conquest of Gaul, 58-51 BC. After a miserable experience with Columbia Games, I want to resubmit it to Worthington Games and see what they think of it.
I'm also considering writing a couple of technical books. Ruby on Windows is one possibility. A "Rubygems in a Nutshell" book is another. Both are just vapor at the moment. And Eric, if you're reading, I'd be happy to co-author on the gems book.
As for Ruby projects, I'm going to spend some time on Win32Utils. The win32-daemon library could really use some TLC, and I'd like to get a pure Ruby version out there. Some (online) documentation updates are in order as well for several of my libraries.
I'm also going to get back to work on Sapphire. :)
