For those who aren’t aware, the Third International Ruby Conference (rubycentral.org/03/) was recently held here in Austin, Texas. As someone new to Ruby, I was impressed by the small but enthusiastic gathering. It was a great sampling of a community that loves their language and programming for programming’s sake.

I also want to thank the organizers at Ruby Central (and all the others who made it possible, especially Matz) for bringing this conference to my doorstep this year. I love conferences that move around and give people who aren’t part of the core community more incentive to attend.

I’m convinced already that I will have fun with the language and become a happy Rubyist!
