It was my second RubyConf, and it was as great as the previous one, not to say greater. It was very good to meet again the Ruby community and talk with new persons.
I watched most of the presentations and really enjoyed them. I unfortunately wasn't able to see Ryan, Eric and Evan speaking, but I am looking forward to watch the recorded sessions, which should normally be available next week, if not in a few days.
I gave a talk about Ruby on Mac OS X as planned, Saturday afternoon. It was apparently well received, which was surprising because I worked on it until the very last minute, especially on the various demos. Alex Payne managed to write a nice summary.
At the end of the talk, I spoke about some of the future plans regarding Ruby on Mac OS X, which consists of basing the Ruby interpreter class model on top of the Objective-C runtime, to eliminate all the bridging problems. I discussed this with Matz and Koichi, and it is great to hear that they are positive about this effort. The objective wouldn't be to rewrite Ruby again, neither to brutally fork the code base, but to work with the Ruby core team and try to figure out a nice integration. I will write more about this soon.
A huge kudos to Rich, Chad and David, for this exceptional organization. Everything was perfect.
