It's always pleasant to see the Java pointy-clicky "programmers" realizing the error of their pathetic ways and adopting a more agile language like Ruby. Unfortunately, they tend to insist on bringing a lot of the Java baggage with them along the way. The end result is that you get some othewise smart men who insist on bridging Ruby with enterprise BULLSHIT like Glassfish and Goldspike.
Most of us are guilty of trying to bring feature X from our previous language into Ruby before actually thinking it through, myself included. In some cases, however, misguided adherence to the "old way of doing things" can lead to seriously expensive "software" that you just don't need with agile languages.
At least some of these Java programmers bring *something* to the table with them - I can always respect new perspectives and (especially) elbow grease. Certain individuals however, who haven't written anything significant in over 15 years and get by on their name alone, make me want to fucking vomit.
