Denver Cinco de Mayo Parade

Winding up a very nice 3-day weekend in Denver with Desi. The occasion was the somewhat annual ThoughtWorks North America Away Day, which took place on Saturday. About 400 ThoughtWorkers from the US and Canada, along with their spouses and family congregated at the Denver Convention Center Hyatt. Friday featured a full-day showcase of everything Ruby-related going on at the company. I was only invited to the social events, so I took advantage of the free time to photograph the Cinco de Mayo parade and make good progress on The Rails Way.

Catching up with old colleagues and seeing the amazing growth of Ruby at ThoughtWorks was very rewarding. I got a bunch of important information that will be shared via InfoQ in the near future. I am free to say that 50% of new ThoughtWorks business is Ruby-related and an informal tally of Rails developers at ThoughtWorks puts the number in the 60-70 range.

Everyone is very excited about Mingle, and there will be big news about Mingle over at InfoQ tomorrow.
