A friend of mine bought a new laptop recently which, of course, came pre-loaded with Windows Vista. His experience so far? Frankly, terrible.

Most of the problems stem from 3rd party software that claims to work on Vista but doesn't. In fact, some software (*cough* Symantec *cough*) won't even finish the install process. He also mentioned some other annoyances with Vista itself that did not help matters.

At the end of his rant, he summed up his experience as, "So bad, it's surreal". I guess I'm glad I went with the Mac after all. :)

I told him his best option was to either downgrade to Windows XP, or just install Linux.
