Carlos followed up his thoughts on why decreasing quality is okay. I disagree, and coincidentally I just noticed a recent article describing how Ken Schwaber of SCRUM fame doesn't think it's ever okay to drop quality either. In a nutshell, Ken's position is that it is part of our professional duty to not compromise on the quality of our work. Actually, he says it's okay if the executives agree and revise financial statements to reflect it. (Controversial, to say the least.) Definitely go read the article, especially Cameron Purdy's smackdown-style rebuttal in the comments. It's thought-provoking stuff. Gotta run now, but I have a lot more to say on this topic... stay tuned.
