Original Post: Specialist Project Risk

Feed Description: Obie Fernandez talks about life as a technologist, mostly as ramblings about software development and consulting. Nowadays it's pretty much all about Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
Insightful comments by Bill De Hora in a post about the surface expansion of .NET. The premise is that as platforms/frameworks get big and complicated, they end up requiring more specialists than generalists...
Aside from the technology, there's a good argument to be had that we're not especially good in this industry at getting specialists to colloborate and communicate on projects, ergo any platform that acts as a forcing function towards specialists rather than generalists presents its own risks.
