Feed Description: sneaking Ruby through the system
If it bothers you—these winkers commenting on your blog without your persuasion—you might consider nailing a sign directed at these unwelcome trespassers to your blog. Mike Sugerbaker has this Javascript on his site which states his rules for wink’r participation.
var throwaway = setTimeout("var testarr = new Array();if (typeof testarr.______array != 'undefined' && testarr.______array == '______array'){alert('Dear Hoodwinkers: Please consider entering your comment in the main site comments rather than in hoodwink.d, provided that your comment is A) about the post and B) not dependent on a hoodwink.d comment. I would super appreciate it - clubhouses are all good, but I am trying to appear to (the rest of) the world like my site is not so dead. Thanks!');}",1000);
It’s true. Blogs belong to their authors. So, in one way, hoodwink.d helps by allowing bloggers to close their comments and worry no more about comment spam and intellectual clutter. On the other hand, critics note that hoodwink.d remains covert, elitist and it is doing nothing about the filthy minds of its users. Tough call, really tough. (Seen on wasteland.)
