I built and installed PostgreSQL 8.1 this week. I figure I may as well get the latest for the Rails project. The Ruby driver for PostgreSQL built without a hitch. The bad news is that pl-ruby 0.4.5 failed badly. The good news is that the pl-ruby author (Guy Decoux) is on top of things and will have 0.4.6 out shortly.

I'd like to have pl-ruby for the (hopefully rare) times I need to use one of those evil stored procedures DHH is so averse to.

Maybe we could do really crazy stuff, like putting the entire model inside the PG server! Who knows what madness we can accomplish?

Next up, mixing mayonnaise right in with the tuna!
