Many people who read my summary of the current differences between Ruby 1.8 and 1.9 failed to see Ruby HEAD as what it is: a testbed for wild and weird ideas which might make it to Ruby 2.0 --- or, as has happened more frequently, thrown away.

So, to all those who saw in this the first step on the road to the Perl6 hell*1: don't assume that this is going to happen just because you took a look at a textual snapshot of a codebase in constant flux.

The current state of Ruby 1.9 should by no means be understood as a final say on what Ruby 2.0 will be like. I have updated my summary of changes in 1.9 to show which decisions are firm (labelled as Ruby2 in the Changelogs by matz) and which fall into the crazy category, in addition to some corrections and clarifications. Note that all the changes that everybody seems to hate (and which misled many into overhasty conclusions) are either EXPERIMENTAL or VERY/HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL. Save your ammo for later.
