- Enigma, Out From the Deep

I've had enough questions and/or requests over the past year and a half that I've decided to dredge up the old spreadsheet package and give it an update. I know that I said previously that the 0.2.9 release would be the last release for the Excel 95 format but, well, the updated version (in Excel 97 format) has been stalled for a long time now. Too long, so I wanted to get some things fixed and updated in the current version.

So, what am I planning for the 0.3.0 release? Well the first "major" change is that the OLEWriter class will now be a subclass of IO rather than File, meaning you can now stream your output any way you like instead of being forced to write it to a file. This came as the result of a couple folks who wanted to send the output to a web browser rather than a physical file on disk.

The rest will be bug fixes, optimizations, one feature request (Worksheet#format_rect) and, of course, more tests. However, there will still not be any support for formulas (I need help with that), nor will there be support for large files. Maybe in a later release. ;)
