It's been a while since I had a good rant, so I feel I'm due. Today's rant? Blog markup.

Why, oh, why does every blog maker insist on custom markup? Do blog engine authors really think they're markup is better than the 3720 that came before? Do they think I'm going to waste my time learning their markup when I already know HTML?

I especially love it when I want to post a comment in response to someone's blog entry, but it doesn't accept plain HTML tags, there's no link anywhere explaining what the markup is, and there's no preview option.

Ugh.
