The last week or so I haven't been able to cool down my place with the air conditioner more than a couple of degrees. Thinking it was broken, I called the maintenance folks and they sent someone out to take a look at it today.

The result? I was out of freon. This in and of itself is not unusual...unless you consider that they just topped it off two months ago. You should also consider that several condo/apartment complexes have been using four times the usual amount of freon this summer compared to past summers. Is it because people are running their AC more often?

No. It's because kids are sucking the freon out of the AC unit in order to get a high! Can you frickin believe it? This is a new trend it seems, but it's even more dangerous than a whippet.

So, now I have to keep an eye out for kids breathing down my hard earned freon. Lovely.
