I'm a lukewarm fan of car racing, but I decided to watch the Indy 500 today and I'm glad I did. For the first time ever, a woman, 23 year old Danica Patrick, led the Indianapolis 500. She nearly won it, too, leading with under 10 laps to go. Low fuel, however, caused her to fall back into 4th place, and then the yellow/white came out and it was over.
She did make a couple of rookie mistakes, stalling in the pits at one point, and nearly wiping out twice (and, well, sorta took out 3 other cars). Still, pretty damned impressive.
