Here's the laugh of the day (actual vendors and models changed to protect the guilty ColdFusion developer who did this):

SQL> select * from hardware;

HARDWARE_NUMBER HARDWARE_VENDOR HARDWARE_MODEL
--------------- --------------- ---------------
1 Sun             5150
2 Microsoft       Bar AB
3 Suse            Baz YZ
4 Redhat          AZ
5 Mandrake        BZ
6 Ubuntu          CZ
7 High Level US

That's right, web developers, this is the future! Templating language, schemplating language. We're going to embed the HTML right in the database.

/me runs to the patent office

I wouldn't go rushing off to the USPO just yet. Other products, such as Mercury Interactive's TestDirector regularly embeds HTML markup in its data. Guess it's a hard problem to separate data from presentation..... ;-)

Well, if they don't even know the difference between hardware, software and nations, how can we expect them to know the value of separating presentation from data?
