I write English text using vim or emacs. I'm using Abiword to input Chinese, because I'm clueless about setting up gvim or emacs to display Chinese text.

Abiword simply feels too big. So I set out to look for a light weight GUI text editor for X. This page mentions Leafpad.

Leafpad exists as a FreeBSD port but somehow isn't listed in the ports index. Installation was straightforward. The editor starts up quickly too. Just the thing I want.
