"Hi, my name is Victor Ng and I've been on Python for the last 4 years on and off...."
I go to the local (well almost local anyway) Toronto Python User Group (PyGTA). Ian even came out last night - although I'm sure he's a little psychologically scarred from going to a user group. For some reason going to a PUG seems like going to an alcoholics anonymous meeting - if I ever went to those. There was a massive turnout last night - it must have been about 20 people or so. Neat-o.
Last night I gave a little talk about how we're using Python over at GAP Adventures. Mel talked about generators and what I gather are weightless threads.
Generators, meta-classes, itertools, Webware.... will the parade of stuff I wish I know never stop? :)
I managed to snag a card from Shane - hopefully there's going to be some Webware collaboration work between the two of us. The little bit of Webware that I have done so far has been going really well. Jason and I have hacked up a little web chat client using Webware plus a little (totally standards based) XHTML and Javascript in day. The toughest part so far has been Jason trying to figure out exactly how to manipulate the DOM in just the right way and me trying to figure out exactly how the Webware servlet API works. It's ugly right now- but it does work and it's extremely lightweight.
One thing I feel bad about last night is that I didn't get too deep into the problems I've had with Skunkweb though. I'll post something up later - hopefullly today - right now I've got a train to catch.
